MEETING

"Food is the main element of community celebrating all over the world. We eat from the same dish so we belong together. Indonesian party dishes are always a buffet. I start humming the moment I start loading food on my tray. Food makes music. But the harmonies and contrasts in food, in dishes, in recipes, the colours and the tastes, they express me. Cooking is art. A nice plate with well prepared food is a work of art. It comes close to painting or sculpting or poetry. A desert is always a poem. The quality time of having a meal together, isn't that what makes art?"
